Veterinary Social Work

Veterinary Social Work Services at the University of Tennessee's Veterinary Center offer the following free services to any animal-welfare professionals and pet parents in Tennessee:

  • Veterinary Social Work Helpline: 865-755-8839

    • People can call to get resources, support, and assistance for anything related to the human-animal bond. 

    • Accessible to anyone Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm EST.

  • Time-limited therapy sessions to pet parents and veterinary professionals

    • These sessions help people navigate pet loss, quality-of-life discussions, professional compassion fatigue and more.​

  • Monthly Pet Loss Support Group

    • For those experiencing pet loss and are looking to share their story and find connections with others going through the same thing.​

    • Group meets on the third Wednesday of every month from 6:15 pm - 7:30 pm EST.

  • Annual Pet Memorial Event

    • University of Tennessee Veterinary Center will be hosting a virtual memorial event on September 13, 2026 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EST via Zoom, open to anyone.​
